Lilliput Church of England Infant School

Love, Respect, Serve

Safeguarding Children

Lilliput C.E. Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All visitors to our school are expected to comply with our Safeguarding practices before entering the school.

We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school. All concerns are passed through the members of staff who are trained as "Designated Child Protection Officers" in school in compliance with the "sharing of information" guidance and current government guidance.

The Designated Safeguarding (and Prevent) Lead is Mrs. Christine Chambers, Head Teacher. She is supported by two Deputy Safeguarding Leads: Mr. Adam Burt (Deputy Head), Mrs. Kathryn Chinchen (Assistant Head).

All other members of staff at Lilliput are also trained to deal with safeguarding matters and as a school we use the software ‘My Concern’, to ensure that all safeguarding matters are accurately recorded and dealt with in a timely manner.

The police, via Children’s services alert us when a domestic abuse incident had occurred at the home of a child. However, routinely the detail of the incident may not be shared with the education setting unless there are other concerns about a child’s welfare. This is to ensure that education setting meet their data protection requirements. The reports come through from Operation Encompass which has links below.

Useful Information:

The Prevent Duty guidance (under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015) places a duty on schools to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism.” Each year, we conduct a risk assessment to ensure our processes are robust and able to ensure that these duties are effectively undertaken. This is monitored by our Governing Body through Safeguarding.
